I'm sure it's some kind of faux pas to be blogging about your cats, but I'm going to do it anyways.
This is Jack (taking a nap with my sister). He has a tapeworm. Which, aside from being disgusting and giving me the heebie jeebies, is apparently quite common amongst the feline community. Thankfully you can do an over the counter remedy that is quite simple. 3 doses given weekly. The felines share a litter box, so I have to give Ellie the same treatment.
Week 1 was great, crushed pills mixed into their wet food. Piece of cake.
Week 2 - not so great. First, you can't crush the 2nd type of pills. Usually in these situations, I just cover it with wet food, and most cats will eat it up. Since you have to fast them over night, in the morning, the Chunky Monkey (aka Ellie) gobbled up her food, pills and all.
Jack, no so much. The jackass (pun intended) ate around the pills. Cut to 15 mins of chasing around in a 500sq ft box, 4 slighly moist pills shoved down Jack's throat, one bleeding finger and me still smelling of cat food, I was finally able to leave for work.
All I can say is, this better work because I'm gonna need a 20 minute pep talk before I can verify if the tapeworm is gone. And I only intend on doing that once.
