The Blind Date Setup

Friends of mine recently moved into a new apartment and were hosting a housewarming as well as introducing everyone to Mozart, their latest addition to the family. Having nothing better to do that evening other than sit on the couch and watch cheesy reruns, I opted to jump onto the trusty BC Translink bus and head over as an attempt to extend my current social circle. Of course this was after I read the invite list and noticed there would be at least 5 or 6 souls I could trap into a conversation so that I didn't end up standing there by myself.

I arrived, bottle of wine in hand, and was greeted immediately with hugs and kisses followed very closely by apologies for there not being any Guinness in the house. After re-assuring them that I would be just fine with any beer they had, I proceeded to say hi to the few people I knew, explore the new abode and of course say hi to the puppy known as Mozart.

At one point in the evening I ended up talking to one of the neighbours, who decided that I would be a great match for her 28 yr old son, who apparently has a thing for asians. Turns out, my winning quality is the fact that I'm a beer girl, a quality which won over the mother so much, she would not leave without my phone number to pass on to her son. As others around us heard of the impending blind date, they started asking about the son. Turns out he is a tall lad of 6'5" with brown hair and brown eyes. Oh, and is currently dating a lovely Phillipina girl, whom the mother is trying to oust out of the picture.

While I didn't have the heart to tell the mom that I had a thing from blue eyed boys, I really wasn't sure I wanted to date a 28 yr old boy who would let their mother determine the fate of those he dates - way too many 'mommy' issues in that scenario for me.

Plus, I have a 6' height restriction for my dates.

I'm offended by the negative light you shine on "cheesy reruns."
