Soon To Be a Professional Photographer

Ok maybe just aspire to be one.

A while ago I sold my little SUV to a good family living in the 'burbs. (For those who don't know, I use to have a red and white Mini) I have to admit, I was a little shocked at my own calm reaction. I expected to have a drama queen moment and suddenly regret my decision to sell my car. But when I handed over the keys, I walked across the street and never looked back. Turns out, I was ready to move on. Who knew?

I decided to spend part of my new found riches on a proper camera - a Nikon D5000 with a 18-105mm lens. Sure, some may argue, *cough* Joe *cough*, that I should have gone with a newer model, and while they may have a point, let's face it - that's just too much camera for me. Seriously. I'm mean, I'm not even sure my brain is wired properly to recognize a good shot when it smacks me upside the head. So let's not get ahead of ourselves with the gear just yet.

I've signed up for an intro course and after walking out of the 2nd class, I was completely overwhelmed, and not gonna lie, a little scared. There is so much to know! Aperture, shutter speed, ISO, White balance, f stops...and let's not forget about the most important part - the composition of the picture itself!

Thankfully Kmay and Jojo agreed to go take pictures with me last weekend so I could play around with the different settings and start to get used to them. Here's a few that I took that day. Stay tuned for more, hopefully better, photos in the future!
