As most of you know (or the 5 people who were reading this blog at the time), Kmay, Streefy and I ran the Kelowna Half Marathon in October. We've now decided to run the Vancouver Half Marathon which is the first week of May. Kmay has set a goal for us this race: finishing time - 2hrs. A feat which requires us to maintain a 6min/km the entire way. Not gonna lie, that scares me a little. Especially when you consider our training regime has been lacking to date.
Thus far, we've managed some 6kms runs after work, however we've yet to run further than 7.5km, mostly due to the fact that we continuously ditch each other on the weekend long runs for a variety of reasons. (Not sure why, but mine always seem to be because of too much booze the night before resulting in a hangover of varying degrees the day of the run. Awkward.)
Toss into the mix, the 2 weeks of the Olympics, the Fjord flu that took us out one by one, and the reality that there's only 7 weeks to go before the race and I was starting to freak out.
Thankfully the rational side of me kicked in and decided that really, all I need is to find myself a hot cabana boy waiting at the finish line with promises of pampering and post-race massages to properly motivate me. John Morris, are you still in town?

Good luck with your training & half marathon!
