Awkward Neighbourly Moments

A while ago I was getting my sweater out of my car and happened to run into my next door neighbour. I've run into him a few times during the summer, usually garbed in head to toe biking gear. We started chatting, the usual neighbourly shoot the shit stuff. As we headed to the elevator, with his new bike gear, he happened to ask where I was headed to that evening. I informed him I was heading to dodgeball and was greeted with a response something along the lines of "Wow dodgeball really?! You just got sexier!"

After frantically changing the subject to anything but dodgeball, I vacated the elevator as fast as humanly possible, hating uncomfortable conversations involving me and the word "sexy" (or any variation thereof), especially when said by a stranger.

A few days later, whilst recovering from the horrid Tonsilitus, I heard a knock on the door and found my neighbour standing there just wanting to stop by and say hi. He had heard the feline meowing at the door and that was apparently a sign of invitation. To make matters worse, he promptly asked if he could come in to check out the layout of my apartment. As this time his girlfriend was accompanying him, I really didn't have a good reason for denying access - and considering this is only neighbour #2 that I've managed to remember the name of, I didn't want to appear rude.

As they stepped into my humble abode, they made friends with the cats and both eagerly invited me to stop by for a drink or dinner whenever I felt like it.

Awkward as it was, I was chatting with a friend recently about how Vancouver can be a hard place to make new friends (let alone date sometimes), that I considered the possibility that these slightly forward neighbours are just being friendly and I should accept their invitations and make some new friends in the building. After all, I've already estranged the lovely girl from directly across the hall from me (see Hello Morning for further deets on that smooth move of mine.) That or, as Justin suggested, they want a threesome.
