Mexanese Mumbo Jumbo

A few weeks ago my friend Scott asked me if I would shoot an event for him in October. It would involve shooting celebs like Al Gore, Martin Sheen, Hedley, Jesse Jackson along with the potential of shooting random drop ins like Justin Bieber and the Jonas Brothers who made guest appearances at last year's event.

Most people would've been excited at such an opportunity...I, on the other hand, had a different reaction. I had a minor panic attack that involved hot flashes, cold sweats, the shakes and the fidgets (yes, that's a medical term). Seriously, I had to get up and leave my desk for 10 mins.

After about an hour, I finally had the courage to re-read the email, and after another hour, I finally agreed to be his photography. Although the event is a ways away, I decided to take another course just to gain a little bit more confidence. I did a full weekend of photography with an instructor who is not only a rad photographer, he's also colour blind. Go figure. Here are a few of those shots from that weekend.

Hello blogger kids. Sorry I've been MIA the past 3 weeks but they've been a little crazy. Here are a few things I've been up to and while will provide further stories about(serves me right for not editing my post a dozen times before posting):

I went down to San Diego (or SD as the cool kids call it) for a little weekend surf trip with a couple of the boys. It was marathon in drinking, a bit of surfing and surprisingly cold weather. Stay tuned for a proper post about the trip.

The girls had a glamour photoshoot while I provided some homemade Tacos al Pastor. There was food, there was makeup, there was hair, there were lots of pictures taken and just for good measure, a trip to the ER. Full details to come.

Boys of summer are back and they were playing up a storm at the Corona tournament. Thanks to the GIB reps I play volleyball with, I managed to score some VIP passes and spent the weekend soaking up the rays, drinking beer and watching amazingly talented boys play vball. I also felt shorter than normal since the average height in the beer garden was about 6'4".

It's tough to sit inside and blog when Vancouver is getting such great weather these days, but I promise to do so in the near future.

Although it wasn't the most successful thing, it was an interesting experience. You still meet the same type of people in the bar, except that online a) you, they or both are not completely smashed trying to have a semi-rational convo and b) if you're not interested, the delete button is a great friend!
